During the seventies and early eighties, the Thai Government initiated a policy to promote export-oriented industry as a means of solving the country’s unemployment and trade deficit problems. The electronics sector in particular was stressed as one area able to capitalize on Thailand’s inexpensive and abundant manpower and other comparative advantages. In view of this policy, Mr. Siva Nganthavee, a visionary businessman, together with the Nganthavee family realized the great potential evident in the electronics sector and made the decision to invest in this exciting but new industry. Thus, Chinteik Electronic Industries Company Limited (CEI) was founded on November 23, 1984 to manufacture integrated circuits, a principal component in all kinds of electronic and electrical device. The plant, located in Pathum Thani province, was the very first Thai owned semiconductor assembly facility. Once operational, the plant was capable of producing some 30 million ICs per year. With the strong support of the Board of Investment and the dedication of every staff member, Chinteik Electronic Industries Company Limited has expanded its product line to incorporate other semiconductor products such as Chip on Board (COB) and Light Emitting Diode (LED). Plastic and Hermetic package assembly is undertaken in class 10k clean rooms and under class 100 laminar hoods. Chinteik Electronic Industries is committed to developing and improving both its manpower and technology and is consequently recognized as a fully capable manufacturer of high-quality semiconductors. The company has received numerous awards from the Ministry of Industry in recognition of its outstanding record among companies located in the Rangsit area.
